What's Blue & White and Heading to PENN?

Senior, Victoria Ngo reports that the Dwight-Englewood Track & Field is sending eight athletes to UPenn to compete in national competition: PENN RELAYS! The following runners departed today from campus at 7am to run at the prestigious Penn Relays, the oldest and largest track and field competition in the United States.

Seniors: Bobbie Javier, Megan Kwon
Juniors: Sarah Friedrich, Leah Steinmetz
Sophomores: Ashley Bryan, Hanna Jerome
Freshmen: Shereen Al-Sawwaf, Rafaela Peralta-Vasquez

According to Ngo, last spring, Javier, Friedrich, Bryan and Jerome competed in the 4x400m relay at NJ State Champs and put down a time of 4:21.3.  This year that same team shattered their old school record in the first couple weeks of the spring season with a time of 4:14.6, which is currently the 60th fastest time in the state (out of 215 ranked teams). Individually, these girls are among the fastest in school history (see video below). Each girl can run a lap around the track at an average time of 64 seconds.  See for yourself how formidible they are in competition.
