Dr. Rodney V. De Jarnett, Head of School, Visits Asia

Dear Member of the Dwight-Englewood School Community,

It is with great pleasure and excitement that I write to tell you that I will be visiting Asia from July 3 to July 13.  I will be accompanied by my wife Annette, my daughter Ali, Director of Admissions Dr. Sherronda Brown and Director of Development Patricia Boig.  With the help of the Dwight-Englewood Korean Parents Association, as well as the Chang Family, we will be hosting a number of events in Korea and China, which we hope our student, alumni, and parents will choose to attend.  Our hope at these events is to learn more about two major areas from which we receive students and talk to our families and friends in Seoul and Beijing about the wonderful things that are happening at our School.

In Seoul on Wednesday, July 4, at 7:30 A.M. there will be a Men’s Breakfast with me and a Ladies Breakfast with my wife, Dr. Brown and Ms. Boig.  Both of these breakfasts will be held in the Grand InterContinental Hotel.  At 10:30 A.M., we look forward to meeting our Current Students and Alumni in the Lobby of the Intercontinental Coex Hotel and to have the students take us on a walking tour of Seoul and have lunch.  This will be our only real opportunity to see the sights of Seoul and it will be wonderful to have the students show us their city. 
 
On Thursday, July 5, we will host a Family Dinner at 6:30 P.M. at the Restaurant Sketchbook in Kooan. All family members have been formally invited to join us for this most enjoyable event.  We are so pleased to have the help of the Korean Parents Association for this trip and particularly want to thank Youjin Chung, Becky Hwang and Jennifer Kang for their help in planning these events.  All of us are so enthusiastic to learn more about Korea and to see the country from where so many of our students come.

With the help of Jojo and Tina Chang, we will be hosting a reception for our current and prospective students, alumni and families on July 7 at 3:30 P.M. in the Courtyard at the Hilton Wangfujing, 8 Wangfujing East St., Dongcheng, Beijing.

We will be finishing up our travels to Asia with a visit to a D-E alumni group in Bangkok, Thailand from July 10-13.
