New Seventh Grade Student Makes Some Important Connections

I love a pleasant surprise.  I suppose that's true for most people including one of today's Admissions Vistitors, Victoria who will be joining Dwight-Englewood's seventh grade class in the fall.  When I greeted Victoria and her mom this morning, they shared that their neighbor who happened to be riding the same elevator today is a current third grade teacher here at D-E.  What a coincidence and a nice surprise for Victoria to learn that she would not only be crossing the River from New York City each morning with fellow students, but also with a trusted neighbor.  She and her mom remarked with amazement that the travel time was only 14 minutes door-to-door.

As I checked in on Victoria who spent the day shadowing with Amina, a sixth grader, we decided to pay Miss Sussman a visit in her classroom.  Once there, Victoria was warmly greeted by third graders - with one student seeking Victoria's assistance in drawing a picture.  Miss Sussman went on to explain to Victoria that seventh graders have "buddy" relationships with members of the third grade class, and that as a student next year she would be helping out as she did today.  Victoria commented that she was excited to have made some many important connections today.

If you are an Admissions Candidate and interested in visiting, we invite you to schedule a day by calling the Admissions Office at 201-569-9500 ext. 3500.  Perhaps there are some important and pleasantly surprising connections that can be made.
